Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive.  However, If you do not find your question here please contact us, we want to answer it.

1- What can I do with my plastic grocery bags?  Answer:  We can’t recycle plastic grocery bags.  A good way to reduce the amount of plastic bags is to ask the store clerk for paper bags.  We can recycle brown paper bags.  However, you can return plastic grocery bags to many of the large stores you shop at, some will even pay you to re-use their plastic bags.

2- Why can’t I recycle plastics such as butter tubs and other food containers?  Answer:  Food containers, if not clean, create a bio-hazard. The vendors cannot sell the product to places such as China when a bio-hazard  condition exists and therefore, they eliminate all food containers to avoid this problem.

3- What can I do with Styrofoam packing peanuts and bubble wrap?  Answer:  Although we do not take them here, there are places that take these peanuts for packaging. Please call or e-mail us for information

4- Do I have to remove labels from tin cans and glass bottles?  Answer:  No, that is no longer necessary.

We can take them here at the recycling center 24/7, there is a bin out front with a red top, or you can bring larger loads during office hours.
