Glass Bottles

We accept emerald (green), flint (clear) and amber (brown) glass bottles and jars only!

All other types of glass (vases, dishes, lightbulbs, ceramics, medical waste, window glass, mirrors, candles) are all considered contaminants to our loads.  Those materials increase our costs and jeopardize the future of the program.

Glass bottle bins pics 001.jpg (123443 bytes) Our colored glass is sorted and placed in these large storage bins.

Each bay holds over 20 Tons of glass!

Brown bottles.jpg (306224 bytes) There are almost enough brown bottles to ship out to Market.

Glass recycling saves energy!  Recycled glass can be processed at a lower temperature than blending new glass made from raw materials and thereby saving America's precious fuels. Recycled glass is generally located closer to bottle manufacturing plants than are the sources of potash, which is the most expensive component in making glass bottles and jars.

Challenges Facing the Glass Recycling Industry:

National Recycling Coalition (NRC):  NRC, the Glass Packaging Institute, and Recycle America Alliance, have launched a national project to increase glass recycling in the United States.
